It wouldn’t be summer without the fun of 4th of July and Buffalo Grove Fireworks.   Bring your lawn chair, sit back and listen to the music of the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band and the BG singers.

The Buffalo Grove Event takes place at The Rotary Village Green which is located west of Route 83, east of Buffalo Grove Road, and north of Lake Cook Road. By there for the band at 7pm and stay for the fireworks at dusk. 

Bring your radio and tune into FM 88.1 to listen to the patriotic music designed for the fireworks.  The fireworks can be seen from almost any spot in town including the Buffalo Grove Golf Course and Willow Stream Park.

Stevenson High School which feeds from Buffalo Grove, Long Grove, Hawthorne Woods, Kildeer and parts of Vernon Hills has had a great 2010 so far.   Newsweek’s America”s Best HS 2010 ranked Stevenson HS in Lincolnshire #167.  This is the sixth year that Stevenson has made the top 200 list.   Located in Lake County Illinois Stevenson is one of only three Illinois high schools to appear in the top 200 in each of the past fave years.

Stevenson High School’s 45th year is one of its finest.  The  Class of 2010 received more the $16.5 million in scholarships. Four seniors were National Merit Scholars and 365 were named Illinois State Scholars.

Good Charity work rounds out the spirit of Stevenson with more than $5,000 raised for Haiti.

Right now this app just works from iPhones but there are plans in the works to expand to other types of phones.

Hello, I’m officially putting out the welcome mat to my blog!

I’m here to give you an insider’s sneak peek at what’s going on in this exciting area and all of the wonderful amenities and services that it has to offer. I’ll keep you updated on all of the great things happening that make the northwest suburbs special.

Like the new winery opening up in the Long Grove shops and the downtown Long Grove chocolate and apple festivals which are fun for the whole family. I’ll also let you know about what makes this area one of the top places to live.

Not many places can lay claim to a great new High School like Vernon Hills High School. It’s just a few years old and has a state of the art theatre. Also I will keep you up to date on the award winning Stevenson High School and all of the great pre-schools for the little ones.
